Aguonia, Evelyn: Business Services Manager Use SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).
Evelyn Aguonia, Business Services Manager, is a 1999 graduate of the Business Administration Program in Accounting from Cambrian College and prior to completing her education was employed as the Loans Administrator for Waubetek from 1990 to 1996. She also served on the Sheguiandah First Nation Council for 4 terms. Evelyn has been instrumental in developing Waubetek loan processes and documentation along with solid working relationships with our clients. Evelyn is currently enrolled in a Public Administration and Governance part-time program through First Nations Technical Institute and Ryerson University.

Margaret Harding - Joining Waubetek's management team in February 2011 as the Manager of Finance and Administration, she brings with her a solid financial background that includes a Business Administration Advanced Accounting Diploma from Cambrian College where she graduated as a Cambrian Scholar along with per previous work experience as a junior accountant with Freelant Caldwell Reilly L.L.P. and through her work as a Bookkeeper and Office Manager for a Sudbury-based construction company.  She is currently completing her part-time studies in the CGA program and the Aboriginal Financial Management Program offered through the Aboriginal Finance Officers Association.

Dawn Madahbee, General Manager, earned a university degree in political science with a minor in law and has background experience in program development and management in the public sector. Ms. Madahbee gained her business experience through operating a small retail outlet in her home community of Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation for 12 years and through private consulting with First Nation communities. She currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the National Aboriginal Economic Development Board. She is a former Chairperson of the Northern Ontario Development Corporation and participates on several Federal and Provincial economic advisory committees.  She is a former Chairperson of the Northern Ontario Development Corporation and also served as a Board Member of both the Ontario Development Corporation and Innovations Ontario.  Dawn has been with Waubetek since 1988.

June Assiniwe, a member of the Sagamok Anishnawbek, is Waubetek's Finance Assistant taking care of both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.  She has a diploma in Hotel and Restaurant Management, earned one acrreditated year towards the Community and Economic Development Program through Algoma University, and is nearing completion of her Business Administration Diploma in Accounting from Cambrian College.  She has gained 12 years experience in finance and administration through her work with the North Shore Tribal Council, the Sagagmok Health and Social Services Unit as well as through previous work with Waubetek.  June re-joined Waubetek in January 2011.

Jason Peltier joined Waubetek in February of 2006. His educational background includes Business Administration from CDI college and is completing his studies in the Economic Development Program with the University of Waterloo. Jason worked previously for Gezhtoojig Employment and Training Services assisting clients with the delivery of small business services. Jason is a member of the Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve.

As Waubetek's Loans and Contributions Administrator, Valerie prepares all the legal documentation for the approved financing provided to Waubetek's clients and processes their claims for the financing.  Prior to her current job, she worked with Waubetek as the Regional Initiatives Coordinator for one year, developing and Economic Development Toolkit for our 27 member First Nation Economic Development Officers.  In 2009 received her certificate in the Economic Development Officer Training Program from The Centre for Executive Education at the University of Windsor.  She also earned her Accounting and Payroll Administrator Diploma at the Toronto School of Business, Sudbury, Ontario in 2003.  Valerie has continued to work in the Business field over the past 14 years, having served three years in her home community of Sheguiandah First Nation as the Band Economic Development Officer.

Cathy Mishibinijima, Receptionist, is a member of the Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve.  Cathy joined Waubetek in July 2010 and is a graduate of the Office Administration-Executive Program from Cambrian College.  Ms. Mishibinijima experienced the opportunity to be involved in the Joint Occupational Health & Safety Committee; Accreditation Canada Certification; and ISO Certification process while employed by Ngwaagan Gamig Recovery Centre Inc.  Cathy also demonstrated community spirit with the Wikwemikong Board of Education Post Secondary Graduation Committee; the Wikwemikong Cultural Festival; and as an exhibitor in the Annual Wikwemikong Agricultural Fall Fair.

Kevin Rose recently rejoined Waubetek as a Business Development Officer having worked previously with Waubetek from 2002 to 2008.  From 2008 to 2011, he worked with Kenjgewin Teg Educational Institute managing their accredited education programming with Queen's University as well as the apprenticeship program.  Kevin has a B.A.in Business Administration and Native Studies from Trent University, a Bachelor of Education degree from Queens University, and also holds a Professional designation in Economic Development with the Economic Development Association of Canada as well as and Economic Development designation from the Council for the Advancement of Native Development Officers.  Mr. Rose gained valuable business experience by owning and operating an incorporated professional business consulting firm in Sheguiandah and currently serves as a Board member on the Economic Development Association of Canada.

Irene Altiman, Regional Initiatives Coordinator, is a member of Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation.  From June 2011 to March 2012, Irene served as Waubetek's Aboriginal Youth Entrepreneurship Coordinator where she oversaw the coordination of the youth business workshops, a business plan competition for Aboriginal youth and an Aboriginal Youth Business Conference.  She started in her position April 1, 2012.  Her background includes employment with the United Chiefs and Councils of Mnidoo Mnising where she was responsible for developing comphrehensive community plans for six member First Nations.   She has also worked for Walpole Island First Nation and the Shequiandah First Nation.  Irene has a diploma in Office Administration, Professional Sales and Management Training, 2 years in computer programming and is currently working online towards a Leadership Certificate in the Ontario Management Development Program through Sault College.
Norma-Jean Sagassige, Business Development InternUse SHIFT+ENTER to open the menu (new window).
Norma-Jean Sagassige joined Waubetek in March 2012 as a Business Development Intern.  She is Mohawk from Six Nations of the Grand River.  Norma-Jean attended secondary school in Wikwemikong and graduated from Trent University in January 2012 where she obtained an Honours B.A. Indigenous Studies and Sociology specialization Indigenous Management and Economic Development.
