Aguonia, Evelyn: Business Services Manager
Evelyn Aguonia, Business Services Manager, is a 1999 graduate of the Business Administration Program in Accounting from Cambrian College and was formerly employed as the Loans Administrator for Waubetek from 1990 to 1996. She also served on the Sheguiandah First Nation Council for 7 terms. Evelyn has been instrumental in developing Waubetek loan processes and documentation along with solid working relationships with our clients. She re-joined Waubetek in 1999 upon graduating.  Evelyn is currently enrolled in a Public Administration and Governance part-time program through First Nations Technical Institute and Ryerson University.
Aiabens, Maureen: Finance Officer
Maureen Aiabens, Finance Officer, joined Waubetek in August 1990 and has been in her current financial position with the corporation since 1991 when she successfully underwent comprehensive training with the corporation’s accountant who also provided training on the AccPac accounting software. Along with the financial training, Ms. Aiabens has been trained on all software used by the corporation and has the responsibility of being our computer network supervisor. Ms. Aiabens has a medical secretary diploma and worked previously with the Manitoulin Health Centre. She is a member of the Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve.
Assinewai, Valerie:  Regional Initiatives Coordinator

Valerie Assinewai, Regional Initiatives Coordinator, developed an Economic Development Toolkit for our 27 member First Nation Economic Development Officers.  In 2009 received her certificate in the Economic Development Officer Training Program, from The Centre for Executive Education at the University of Windsor.  She also earned her Accounting and Payroll Administrator Diploma at the Toronto School of Business, Sudbury, Ontario in 2003.  Valerie has continued to work in the Business field over the past 14 years, having served three years in her home community of Sheguiandah First Nation as the Band Economic Development Officer.

Dokis, Barret:  Business Development Officer

Barret Dokis, Business Development Officer, joined Waubetek in May 2010 and holds a three year Diploma in Business Administration from Cambrian College.  His previous employment includes: Business Internship with Gezhtoojig Employment and Training, Personal Loans Officer with CIBC, and Commercial Account Manager with the Royal Bank of Canada.  He also worked for the Union of Ontario Indians where he assisted with the implementation of the Anishinabek Nation’s Economic Blueprint.  Barret was born and raised in Sudbury Ontario, has lived throughout Northern Ontario and is a member of Dokis First Nation.

Madahbee, Dawn: General Manager
Dawn Madahbee, General Manager, earned a degree in political science and has background experience in program development and management in the public sector. Ms. Madahbee gained her business experience through operating a small retail outlet in her home community of Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation for 12 years and through private consulting with First Nation communities. She currently serves as a member of the Executive Committee of the National Aboriginal Economic Development Board. She is a former Chairperson of the Northern Ontario Development Corporation and a current member of several economic/business advisory committees to the Federal and Provincial government. Dawn has been with Waubetek since 1988.
 
McGregor, Andrea: Loans and Contributions Officer
Andrea McGregor, Loans and Contributions Officer, member of the Beausoleil First Nation, joined Waubetek in September 2001. Prior to Waubetek, she was employed with the Whitefish River First Nation as an Executive Assistant to the Chief and Council.  She was also previously employed as a Customer Service Representative with the TD Bank and CIBC Bank. She studied Law and Security at Humber College and recently graduated from the Office Administration Program with First Nation Technical Institute and St. Lawrence College.  Andrea is presently working toward her Economic Development Program Certificate with the University of Waterloo and her Small Business Counselor Certification through Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.
McLeod, Angela: Finance Assistant
Angela McLeod, Finance Assistant, joined Waubetek in the summer of 2005 as a recent graduate of the Business Administration Program at Cambrian College. She worked previously with her home community of Sheshegwaning First Nation in their tourism and youth programs.
Peltier, Jason: Business Development Officer
Jason Peltier, Business Development Officer, joined Waubetek in February of 2006. His educational background includes Business Administration from CDI college and is completing his studies in the Economic Development Program with the University of Waterloo. Jason worked previously for Gezhtoojig Employment and Training Services assisting clients with the delivery of small business services. Jason is a member of the Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve.
Sayers, Taylor:  Business Services Assistant
Ms. Sayers joined Waubetek in October 2008 and holds a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing from Laurentian University (Algoma University College).  Prior to Waubetek, she was employed with Weengushk Film Institute as the Marketing and Resource Development Manager, and then as the Director of Development for the organization.  She was also previously employed with Algoma University as the Indigenous Outreach Officer.  Taylor is a member of the Garden River First Nation.
Toulouse, Julie: Finance Assistant
Julie Toulouse, Finance Assistant, is a member of the Thessalon First Nation, and joined Waubetek in March 2006. She brings several years of administrative experience with her. She was previously employed as a Facility Manager/Executive Assistant for Cyberplex Interactive Media, which is a technology consulting organization. Julie is a graduate of the Correctional Worker program from Algonquin College and has taken training as a PC Windows Specialist with the Tazumi-Tech Business and Computer College in Toronto.

Bayer, Martin: Waubetek Chairperson
Mr. Bayer, Chairperson, brings a wealth of knowledge, experience and expertise in advancing economic development in our First Nation communities. Mr. Bayer specializes in Native Law, Civil Litigation, Natural Resources and Corporate and Commercial Law at Weaver Simmons, one of Northern Ontario's most prominent legal fims. He has also served as Director and President of the Wabuno Fish Farms, a company owned by the Ojibways of Aundeck Omni Kaning. In 1998, he became the Tribal Chairperson for the United Chiefs and Councils of Manitoulin, responsible for providing leadership on a wide range of economic, social and political issues. Mr. Bayer won a national award from Employment and Immigration Canada and the Cambrian Alumni Award in 1999. Mr. Bayer is a graduate of Business Administration from Cambrian College.
Bebamash, Kathy: Secretary-Treasurer
Kathy Bebamash, Secretary-Treasurer, a member of Aundeck Omni Kaning, is currently employed as the Band Economic Development Officer for the Aundeck Omni Kaning First Nation. She has been responsible for several community initiatives including Wabuno Fisheries, the development of the Sucker Creek Economic Development Board and a community eco-tourism project. Ms. Bebamash was a member of the Waubetek Development Group which was the Community Futures Committee that established the corporate arm of Waubetek. She has been with the Board since 1998. She is also the Vice-Chairperson of The Great Spirit Circle Trail Inc. and serves on the Obezhigojig Economic Developers Association Board of Directors.
Francis, Lucy: Director
Lucy Francis, Director, A member of the Wikwemikong Unceded Indian Reserve, Lucy currently works with her community’s social services unit finding employment for her clients through her network of businesses in the region. Her educational background includes receiving a Realtor’s Licence in Minnesota where she was hired to create and administer a First Time Home Buyer Program for qualified Native Americans in Minneapolis. Prior to returning to Wikwemikong, she was also employed as a purchasing agent with a casino in Wisconsin. Ms. Francis also serves on the Rainbow Ridge Golf Course Board of Directors. She joined the Waubetek Board in 2002.
Jones, Harry: Vice-Chairperson
Harry Jones, Vice-Chairperson, North Shore Tribal Council Region, recently retired from his position with Algoma Steel in Sault Ste. Marie where he was employed as an Electronic Technician for 30 years. Mr. Jones has also been a driving force on the Board of Directors of Batchewana Band Industries where he has served for more than 14 years as both President and Vice-President. His extensive Board experience includes involvement as a school trustee for Sault Ste. Marie, as a director on the Sault Ste. Marie Chamber of Commerce, and as a member of the First Nation Industrial Parks Association for Ontario. Mr. Jones joined the Waubetek Board in December 2000.
McGregor, Gerald: Director
Gerald McGregor, Director, Having been raised to help oversee his family’s marina, retail store and boat taxi service business on the Whitefish River First Nation, Mr. McGregor has much expertise to lend the Waubetek Board which he joined in July 2005. He is also employed with his First Nation as a Maintenance Assistant. Mr. McGregor is also a veteran having served nine years in the Canadian military and was based in Europe and Canada.
McLeod-Shabogesic, Perry: Director
Perry McLeod-Shabogesic, Director, A member of the Nipissing First Nation, Mr. McLeod-Shabogesic is actively involved with the Anishinabek/Ontario Fisheries Resource Centre (A/OFRC) as the Community Liaison Specialist. He has also worked previously with the Union of Ontario Indians in Inter-Governmental Affairs and is a contributor to the “Anishinabek News”. He has also worked in cultural programming for his home community. Perry joined the Waubetek Board in 2004.
Mossip, Kevin: Director
Kevin Mossip, Director, Zhiibaahaasing member, is a Band Councillor/Deputy Chief in his home community. He is currently the Finance Manager for his community and was also employed as the Economic Development Officer for his community for 7 years which included working as the Finance Officer and manager of the community-owned “Nimkii Makwa Convenience Store and Gas Bar”. He also worked with the Union of Ontario Indians in the development of the Self-Government model. He is also the Board Member of Kenjgewin Teg Educational Institute. Mr. Mossip was previously a member of the Waubetek Board of Directors for 2 years and re-joined the Board in January 2001.
